What is Medical Weight Loss?

One of the most effective ways to lose weight is by taking weight loss medication. The advantages of these medications are that they are non-invasive (no surgery necessary) and can be tailored to individual patient needs. Whether you use compounded Semaglutide or Tirzepatide, both are highly effective medications when added to simple diet and exercise changes. Medications are injected once weekly subcutaneous (applied under the skin).

What is Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that works by mimicking the effects of the natural hormone GLP-1 in the body.

GLP-1 is released from the gut in response to food intake and helps regulate blood sugar levels by stimulating insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion. By activating the GLP-1 receptors, Semaglutide helps to increase insulin production, decrease glucagon secretion, slow down stomach emptying, and reduce appetite.

What is Tirzepatide

Tirzepatide is a GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist that works by activating both GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1. This combination has been shown to have a greater reduction in appetite than Semaglutide alone.
